Case Study — Complete Restoration
A thirty-year-old automatic, brought back into regular use
Challenge
A vintage automatic that had been stored unworn for several years. It would run for a short time after winding and then stop. The owner wanted to wear it again but was uncertain whether full service was worthwhile.
What Was Done
Full movement disassembly, ultrasonic clean, dried lubricants removed, fresh oils applied in the correct quantities, movement reassembled and adjusted for timing. Case cleaned, crystal polished lightly where possible.
Outcome
Running steadily within approximately twelve seconds per day. Service timeline document provided. Owner continues wearing the watch daily. Total service time: two and a half weeks.
Case Study — Care Check & Strap Fit
A daily-wear quartz with a worn bracelet
Challenge
A quartz watch worn almost every day for four years. Battery had run low, the original metal bracelet was loose and had stretched links. Owner was unsure whether to replace the bracelet or switch to a different material.
What Was Done
Everyday care check performed first: battery replaced, seals inspected, case cleaned, pressure tested (watch is water-resistant to 50m). Following discussion, owner chose a rubber strap — fitted and sized at the same visit.
Outcome
Watch collected the same day. Combined cost of care check and strap fitting: RM 450. Owner noted the rubber strap was more comfortable in the Klang Valley climate than the original metal.
