What working with us looks like
Six things clients consistently find different about bringing a watch to Waktu Atelier.
Written condition report
You receive a written note of what was found, what was done, and what was observed. A record you can refer to.
No surprise additions
Anything beyond the agreed scope is discussed with you before work begins. The quoted price is what you pay.
Updates throughout the process
We contact you at significant points during a service. You always know where your watch is in the process.
Unhurried workmanship
Work is done at the pace it needs, not squeezed into an unrealistic slot. Patience is how we keep the quality consistent.
Pressure testing included
Water-resistant models are pressure tested after service where applicable, with the result noted in your report.
Advice without pressure
We tell you what we observe and what we would recommend. What you decide to do with that is entirely up to you.
Expertise
Skilled hands, not rushed repairs
Our lead watchmaker has over fourteen years of experience working with mechanical, automatic, and quartz movements across a wide range of makes. The work is methodical — movement disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, lubrication with the correct oils, reassembly, and timing verification before any watch leaves the bench.
We are not affiliated with a single brand, which means we approach each piece according to its own requirements rather than fitting it into a preset process.
Mechanical, automatic, and quartz movements serviced
Fourteen-plus years of hands-on watchmaking experience
Correct lubricants used for each movement type
Timing verified and deviation recorded after service
Not brand-exclusive — each piece treated individually
Ultrasonic cleaning for movement parts
Specialist watchmaking tools, correctly maintained
Pressure testing equipment for water-resistant models
Timing measurement instruments used on mechanical movements
Tools & Approach
The right equipment, used correctly
Proper watchmaking requires proper tools. At Waktu Atelier, movement parts are cleaned ultrasonically before reassembly. Timing is measured with instruments, not estimated. Pressure testing is done with purpose-built equipment, not improvised methods.
This is not unusual in a serious workshop — but it is worth stating clearly, because not all repair services in the area work this way.
Service Quality
Communication you can rely on
Leaving a watch for repair should not feel uncertain. At Waktu Atelier, we contact you when the watch is assessed, when work is in progress, and when it is ready. You know what we found, what we did, and what you are collecting.
Messages and calls are responded to within one working day. Studio hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm.

What We Offer Differently
Distinctive features of the studio
Service Timeline Document
For Complete Restoration jobs, we provide a simple written timeline showing each stage of the service — what was done and when. A clear record you take home with the watch.
Honest "wait and see" option
If your watch is functional and a service would be precautionary rather than necessary, we will tell you. You will not be talked into a service you do not need at this point.
Walk-in assessment welcome
Bring your watch in during studio hours for a free visual assessment. We will tell you what we observe and what it might need, with no commitment to proceed.
Strap guidance included in fitting
The Strap & Fit service includes material guidance for your wear pattern and routine — leather, rubber, or metal options suited to Malaysian climate and daily use, with no pressure toward anything specific.
